Right now, I suck. Life sucks.

Because my computer has no chance in Hell of getting fixed. It's dead, kaput. Pictures, stories... all gone. Luckily I have good friends that let me use their computers from time-to-time.

I said before that the next post, which would be this one, will have the winners of That Breaking Dawn Contest. Some of the writers have not yet finished theirs, so I'm giving them some time. Meanwhile, here are some of the entries posted (If I left you out, sorry! I'm wicked tired.)-

I think there are more, but I've got to go.My time is up on this computer!

Sory, sorry, sorry. My computer CRASHED! I can't really post right now, but I will when my computer is fixed. I am dying with Fanfiction Withdrawl Syndrome, but I need you to bare with me on this one.
My computer will not be fixed by the time my contest ends. But as soon as it is, I will post the winners.

Thanks!

And, yes, this post does not have a rec. Sorry, guys.

Who's angry?

Alright, I'd like to know who's angry with this 'Literate Union', too. The Twilight Awards (a new affiliate) posted some cool articles on why and what the Union is doing to get fabulous stories deleted. They also have a list of fics that have been pulled because of the LU or other reasons. The Union leaves nasty reviews on people's stories and put it on their 'shit' list. So, be careful out there writers. Don't let the low-lifes take you down.

Who the Bleep are the LU is an FFn account that has great points on why what the LU is doing is wrong. This person also has a pretty funny story on the subject... The Blood of Small Minded People is Bad.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

I'm going to be MIA (because, you know, I'm always in action) for the rest of this week. I feel bad everyday when I don't post, but I can't this week so I guess I need to suck it up. This post will be quick because I'm busy, remember?

I like lemons and everything, so you as readers should too. Be happy that I like to give you some.

you know what they say about musicians-
Musicians are supposed to be good with their hands. And whattayaknow, Edward's a musician.

This story the same author, inthestars, and it looks awesome. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but I will. I'm a sucker for any historical stories.

Soif de Sang-
Set in the 1930s. Fueled by guilt and self-hatred, Edward leaves Carlisle and Esme to hunt the darkest creatures of humanity: murderers, rapists, thieves, criminals. But what happens when one of their victims calls to him on a whole other level?

Happy Belated

Happy belated St. Valentine's Day to you all. Did you eat as much chocolate as you could handle? I did to the extreme... It was also President's Day yesterday here in the United States, so yes, there will be fics rec'd on that. But first the V-day... (Some are cheesy, but whatever!)

Valentine's Day 2010
Jacob wants Nessie to be his Valentine. How does he do it? Through cheesy jokes, duh.

Boycotting Valentine's Day
Some women have trouble finding guys, Bella has the opposite problem. When Valentine's Day approaches, her prospective suitors turn up their game, hoping to be her Valentine. Instead, Bella chooses to hang out with her best friend Alice and they both decide to boycott Valentine's Day. A weekend of non-Valentine's Day activities are lined up including no guys allowed. But, surely Alice's brothers, Edward and Emmett, don't count, right?

Bella Swan hates Valentine’s Day with a passion. She didn’t always; it was all good until He broke her heart. Now she’s a bitter woman that’s forgotten the meaning of your significant other. What happens when Bella gets a special Valentines Day surprise?

Now for a President's Day fic (Not really president-y, but government stuff):

Lt Edward Masen and his Navy SEALs are on a mission to stop terrorist groups in a small African country. Bella Swan the journalist has been dumped on them to protect while she documents the lives of people in the war zone.

Team Switzerland.

I was going to have a Valentine's Day post, but my computer decided that it was a good time to screw up. I'll probably do a late one tomorrow.

I say 'Team Switzerland' because that was the first thing I thought of when a Swiss ski jumper won the gold medal at the Olympics . How sad is that? That fans can see something and relate it to Twilight. I mean everything. If I look in front of me, I see a laundry basket. This reminds me of when Bella's clothes are stolen from her in Eclipse. You see what I mean?

^This has nothing to do with the post, I just wanted to put some Olympics into it. :]

Today's post is a fluff. Fluff is just all cutesy stuff and I, personally, love it.

This fluff made me crack up when I read it, so I had to post it:

One Last Banana-
Bella relishes her last time to enjoy a banana and Edward teases her about it. Fun, fluffy, humorous, and slightly sad on the part of the banana.

A REMINDER AND UPDATE FOR CONTEST!

The contest has been PUSHED BACK TO SATURDAY, MARCH 20TH for personal reasons. Thanks for understanding.

That Breaking Dawn Contest is still going on and if you'd like to hop on board email me (melissaisatwilightlover@gmail.com). It is all about those missing moments in the last book in the Twilight Saga.

Quick Rec:
Across the Ocean
In one quick and thoughtless act, Bella Swan sends a letter in a bottle across the ocean. It reaches England, where Edward Cullen finds it, and begins their correspondance, one that leads to more than either of them could expect.

Oh, Canon.

Canon. One of my favorite fanfiction genres. Actually, it is my absolute favorite. The reason why: these stories focus on the characters we first fell in love with.
If you are out of bounce with this term here is the definition, exclusively from Wikipedia (because we all love it!):

Canon refers to the "official" source material upon which fan fiction can be based. In recent years, some fandoms have engaged in lengthy debate over what is or is not "canon", usually due to multiple writers in various media creating contradictory source material... It is important to note that something that is regarded as "canon" is regarded as being essentially a verifiable fact in the given fandom. Details as complex as the laws of physics in a given story universe or as minute as how a character's name is meant to be spelled can be referred to as "canon" details, so long as they are specifically shown or otherwise directly revealed in the source material; this includes character behavior as well, though debate over what can or cannot be considered "canon behavior" is often a point of contention in fandom... In short, "canon" in the context of fanfiction is both the accepted "official" material itself, and a concept or detail promoted by the original work and/or in accepted "official" material.

l'm not so sure that I accept canon as 'official material, though, but the stuff written is fantastic (most of it). Some examples of the work:
Triangles With Linear Qualities
Jacob doesn't even like geometry.

I liked this one, since it is in third person and that it is set place in New Moon (my favorite book). Bella and Jake are taking a break from being 'irresponsible' and doing homework. Jacob uses the triangles he is studying for math as a metaphor for his relationship with Bella.

Numb-
We know Bella tore her stereo out of her truck...this is her story of that day.

This one-shot killed me. Seriously, I was so upset when I read it. Music is a connection that Edward and Bella have and when he leaves during New Moon, all that is gone. Every reminder of him, taken away, broken, like the stereo.

Whole-
After centuries of waiting, the Cullen family is finally complete. Rosalie observes as the last piece of their puzzle finally slots into place.

This was so canon. It showed Rosalie's reaction to Renesmee perfectly. While Rose thinks that Nessie is hers, she needs to face the truth. She isn't her daughter and Rose will have to accept that.

If you'd like to read more like this, there is an awesome C2 Community called All Canon Twilight

I'm Sure You Did This Too.

So, how about that Super Bowl (Can I say that or is it copyright infringement?)? I watch it specifically for the commercials and read during the actual game.
I bet you watched it, non like I did.
........
Exactly. You only were in it for the advertisements, too.
The only thing 97% of Americans like about it is the commercials. This does not relate to Twilight whatsoever, I just needed to say. I mean, it could. I could say 97% of the readers read it because of Edward. And this is true.

I'm especially excited to hear from WhyFightAnEclipseWhenTheresJaz who sent me a PM about her one-shot. And you know I love them, but her story Cullens Adopt a Kid caught my eye instead! Check it out, I hear it's funny stuff.

Dear Fanfiction,

 Dear Fanfiction,
What have you done to me? I'm constantly looking through your site for stories based on the coolest characters I know of. Does this make me a junkie? I'm addicted to this heroin. I make puns of it, too. Yes, I know I'm an addict! But this has gone way too far!
This letter to you is for a reason. A crazy one, in fact. I'm giving up. No more blogging every day about you. No more of this! A weekly thing, the blogging should be. Maybe twice a week. My responsablilty has been flushed down the drain for almost every day per week. I'm not quitting the blogging, I'm just quitting everyday
So, from now on twice a week of blogging. Or once a week. I might go crazy and do it three times.
Forgive me for not visiting you via blogger as much as I was doing, Fanfiction.
With love and many other things,
Mel

Woo! Got that over with. So rec time? Yes indeed:
Cynthia, if anyone remembers from New Moon, is Alice Cullen's human sister. This fic is going to be Pre-Twilight. Cynthia and Alice are closer than ever. But when Alice starts acting different, and slowly slipping away, what will Cynthia do? It's up to Cynthia to save her sister, before it's too late.

Fandom Celebration Day

Jasper's Darlins thinks that there has been way too much negativity in this Fandom lately, and quite frankly, I agree. This post today is to do away with that negativity to, hopefully, make it positive. So here is my story about how I discovered Twilight and the Fandom behind it...

It was a dark afternoon. Ok, I'm not getting that angsty, but how I found out about Twilight was pretty simple. A friend down the street (Holla Telly!) was reading this book about vampires. I reacted like any Harry Potter fan would have, 'Really, vampires? I understand boy wizards, but...' So I went on and on about how ridiculous the idea of reading that then God-awful book. Telly stopped my rambling, 'No, you haven't read this. You have to.' I took the book from her hands and agreed. Moving back up to my house in my then-in-style-ultra-flare-jeans (it was 2006 and the 90s was back) I opened the door, plopped onto my couch and read.
Four damn hours, one sitting, a headache from reading, and I was in love. I immediately got onto my laptop, searched for something Twilight related and got... nothing. It was drought online! New Moon wasn't in my vocab until later that year (I did the HP thing during the gap). I read that book, hating Edward and wanting to do naughty things to Jake.
Online again I went, and guess what? Fansites. A plethora of them, might I add. I overloaded on blogs, commenting like a mad woman. Each reply I got back was actually nice, non like the HP sites.
Then the news of the movie deal spread. I spazzed out even more, deciding to make a blog (that turned out horrible, by the way). More into the Fandom I went, then finding this one site. Fanfiction.net. This was like the best thing I had ever seen. I opened up a new story and dived right in...

So that was my Twilight story, but why am I immersed into this Fandom? Well, it is welcoming. That's the main reason. I have never known any other fanbase that has welcomed anyone with open arms. And they, you, did it to me. Four years running I have been caught up in it, and for four more years I'll stay.

You can't have a post without the recs:
Living on the streets is hard for Bella Swan, but not as hard as putting up with Edward Cullen when he drags her into his lifestyle of sex, drugs and Rock and Roll. Will they be able to help each other before they kill each other?

I found this ages ago (when it had about 100 reviews), but I never got around to reading it. I just found it on my bookmarks, so I hope that you can bookmark it, too.

Author Interview

Have you ever wanted to venture off and read another pairing. Another one like JasperxBella? Or AlicexBella
One of my affiliates and one of my favorite authors agreed to do a little Q&A session with me. Check it out-

Enjorous, Author of The Siren's Song:

Why are you interested in Alice?

I'm interested in Alice because she always genuinely cared for Bella. That generally means that she never tried to enforce her will upon Bella. She's always seemed more compassionate to me compared to Edward (aka Sparkles.) In my opinion Sparkles gives the few men who still practice chivalry, of which I am one, a bad name, but I digress. What really intrigues me about her character in general is that Alice has no past prior to being a vampire. That means for the nineteen years she was a human nothing of her past exists to her. Having a tombstone and or a birth certificate would mean absolutely nothing to her because she's essentially an amnesiac. I've written a one shot to that effect titled "What's in a Past."

Movie Alice or book Alice?

Since I've only seen the first movie, for a film class not by choice, I'd have to say book Alice.

Physically, what's your favorite part of her? ;]

Hmm...I dunno, believe it or not I'm not your typical shallow guy. Shocking I know. But I'd have to say her eyes, only because that's the first thing I notice about a person.

Favorite AlicexBella fic(s)?

Lemme riff a short list: "Bella's" by Jocelyn Torrent, "The Edge " by Fembuck , "When the World is Dark " by Departed , and "Forever " also by Jocelyn Torrent.

Favorite pairing other than what you write?

With respect to Twilight, I normally stick to just Alice and Bella. But I find myself being pulled to Bella x Rosalie

Any new projects coming up?

Yes, I'm two chapters into a new story called "Ministry of Lost Souls" also a Bellice story. And The Siren's Song is still not done. And in the middle of that I'll probably write more chapters of "What's in a Past" exploring Alice a bit further.

With you writing about AxB, which one of those characters are the hardest writing about?

I find Alice much harder to write about, because I constantly and consciously have to fight against slipping into Alice's stereotypical persona. The always bright, always perky, shopaholic optimistic pixie that is so prominently displayed all over http://www.fanfiction.net. Because there is so much potential depth to her character. Because I once asked myself this question and it changed everything for me. "How does one stay happy and optimistic /all/ the time?"

The hardest part of your story that you've written?

Bar none the hardest thing about writing about women is that I'm a guy. I know it's the but of oh so many jokes but as a guy I've accepted and resigned myself to the fact that I do not now, nor will I ever understand the mind of the woman, and not a day goes by that when I'm writing I have a slew of questions for my best female friend on the subject. Though she denies it, I think it bugs her from time to time.

Enjorous decided to be original and make up his own question:

"Why are you writing Twilight fanfiction" Well, I'm glad you asked ;) I'm write it because I felt unsatisfied with everything I read. The ideas and the characters were well crafted, but in my opinion, an opinion which I think is shared by a lot of people on the fringe of the fandom, the execution fell flat. These BEAUTIFUL characters were given a handful of pages each to leave more room for the predictable and boring love story of the protagonists. So I write to give those fringe characters a chance to truly live.

Well, no, I'm glad you answered! Now let's see Cullen818's (she writes the Jasper's Faith, Love, and Hope trilogy) opinion:

Why are you interested in Jasper?

I always go for what is different and when I started reading FF, I found so many of the Edward/Bella stories to be the same. I stumbled across a B/J and I thought that could be interesting.

Movie Jasper or book Jasper?

Book Jasper because his character is intriguing to me. There is so much to explore with his past and his gift. I think that's why he works so well as a central character in the FF world.

Physically, what's your favorite part of him? ;]

His lips and his mouth, but I find Jackson to be much sexier than Jasper. That blond wig does nothing for me.
Favorite JasperxBella fic(s)?

Oh...there are so many.. I'll try to narrow it down. Finding Relief and Finding Forgiveness by TwistedforTwilight, Awake in the Dark by Kitty Cullen-03, A New Love by Jasper's Darlin Kathy, and many more!

Favorite pairing other than what you write?

Edward/Bella (usually Edward has to be dark and dominant)

Any new projects coming up?

I'm actually collaborating on a new Fan Fiction based website called fanfictionfrenzy.com. It's a major work in progress, but we're getting there. I have a new story posted there that is currently two chapters in. It's called Innocence Lost and starts out as an E/B tale (new territory for me), but will turn into a J/B fic. Right now I'm having fun writing all about Darkward.

With you writing about JxB, which one of those characters are the hardest writing about?

Jasper is really complex because he carries so much baggage with him. When writing him you also have to be super aware of his gift because he feels everything, so you always have to keep that in mind when writing a reaction from another character. I enjoy writing from the male POV, and after four stories I've gotten extremely familiar with Mr. Whitlock.

The hardest part of your stories you've written?

The hardest part for me occurred in Love Will Keep Us There. I had to write Edward in a negative light for plot purposes, and I made him do something that wasn't very popular. I took a beating for it, and almost pulled the story, but I didn't. Actually, Love ended up becoming the most popular story in the Fate/Love/Hope trilogy. I always thank the readers for sticking with me on that one.

I'm really glad I got to know more about the minds of these authors. Be sure to check out these stories and sites to support their work in the Fandom.

Tomorrow's Plans

I said that there is going to be a surprise tomorrow. What to know what it is?

A interview with one of my affiliates.

And one of my favorite authors.

Cullen818 AND Enjorous.

I'm pretty psyched about this post, to be honest. But what's it about? These authors write about two non-canon couples, JasperxBella and AlicexBella. Have you ever wondered why they write about them? Me too, so read it on Friday.

Today's fic:
Somewhere To Belong

Cool Beans

I have a surprise for you guys later this week, so get pumped! For now though, I am going the one-shot way.

Awkward by Eowyn77:
What did the Denali girls give Edward as an engagement present? Set during the wedding reception in Breaking Dawn.

Intoxicated by Eowyn77:
The first kiss, from Edward's perspective.

Jacob Buys A New Pair of Socks by Rhiann:
Just a regular day in Forks. No, really.

Shampoo by vnfan:
After watching Bella at a salon, Edward decides to wash Bella's hair for her. Squeaky clean hair, slightly dirty Edward.

Mini-Exploring

So I just figured that we can have a mini exploration for no particular reason. Interested? Good.

I'm currently addicted to to Dominant/Submissive fics or anything that involves a stripping pole. Maybe both.
It's cool to me that the canon characters are so innocent, yet when you enter the fanfiction world you can find stories that range from Edward being a porn star and Bella being a sex slave. These things can vary from one extremity to another in a heart beat, and I'm okay with that.
But what attracts me, or even you to this? Maybe that I will still be connected to the characters, but with a twist? I'm not sure, but what do you think of this? Or do these turn you off?

Let us continue with the rec.-
"A girl who is broken and a Dom who's willing to do what he'd never thought he would in order to help her. This is a BDSM story and contains dark themes including sexual slavery, rape, and D/s relationships.
Edward - I've been a Dom for over five years, since my sophomore year of college. In that time, I've had two collared subs and I've played with several more. But was I prepared for Isabella? No. I wasn't. I couldn't walk away though.
Bella - I am nothing."

This is a popular story, I haven't heard of it before last night when I was searching, but I opened it and read it. I read eleven chapters straight and couldn't put it down until two in the morning. Trust me, it's addictive. Be warned!

Excitement

I'm stoked about my contest. I already have a few entries so far, more than I expected.
Just keep them coming. Email me, PM me, whatever.

Today's rec:
Edward Sundae
It's exactly as it sounds.

Amethyst Jackson is my one-shot writer of the moment. I love her work. Short and sweet.

That Breaking Dawn Contest

Woo, a contest!
I've been thinking about hosting this one for a while now.
But...
What's it about?
Breaking Dawn's missing moments.

This book has so many missing moments, so many things you writers can fill in.
Whether your story focuses on the big guys, like Emmett, or the little ones that give us a laugh, like Mike, it has to be a space filler or a scene in someone other than Bella or Jacob's POV.

Go back, skim the pages of BD again and figure out what to write about.

Ideas:
How about that tragic honeymoon black out?
Or Bella's feelings during her pregnancy?
The Volturi's flight to Forks?
What exactly did Alice pack in Bella's luggage?
Building the cottage?
Irina's thoughts when she first saw Nessie?
Kate and Garrett's love?
Exactly what does Leah think about the Cullens?
Phil and Renee's travel to Forks?
Alice buying Bella's blue dress when she first hunts?
Even the wedding dress?
Nessie hunting for the first time?
The phone call between Rose and Bella?
Carlisle getting blood for Bella when she was pregnant?
Nessie's mind in the womb when drinking the blood?
The Volturi gathering witnesses?
Or the Cullens doing the same?

You choose, or find your own, there are tons of opens spaces yet to be filled.

The story can be any rating, K-M.
Multi-chaptered or a one-shot.
It won't effect anything.

The only catch is...
Under 10,000 words.
It's a good limit, plenty to go by.

Due Saturday February 27th.

No prizes will be given out, just an opportunity to write.
Ok, maybe a few reviews here and there!

The winner will be announced here, on my blog, a week after it is due.

Have fun, be creative, fill those spaces.

Here are some good examples of what this contest is about:

The Hunt

I think this is a good way for me to prepare for my next fic. It has something to do with hunting, of course. I just posted this for me.
Actually, I need to be honest. My computer is not working right now so I'm using someone elses at the moment. This post will be screwed up because of this... I'll fix it soon.

Snow?

I found this when 80% of America was covered in snow and I thought it was appropriate. And fluffy.
I didn't end up posting it for some reason, so here's my chance.

Fun in the Snow:
Jacob drags Bella along on a ski trip. Of course she can't ski and needs lessons. What happens when her teacher turns out to be the beautiful Edward Cullen

Thursday, January 14, 2010

A Work in Progress

Stuck:
My name is Bree, Breanne, really. I think I'm fourteen, but I don't know because I'm not human. I'm stuck like this, confused, hurting, blood thristy.

This fic is a 'What if she lived?' WIP.

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Smutfest, anyone?

Warmth:
The missing pieces of Bella and Edward's honeymoon. Please be warned, this story is lemony sweet!

"Edward’s control was slipping, I could tell. The way he was pushing his lips against mine, lovingly but quite insistently, was making me warm again. There was nothing more beautiful than Edward as he had been outside in the sand, his careful facade forgotten and his ever-constant restraint pushed aside. I would do anything to see that side of Edward again and again. I could feel my temperature rising just thinking about it - the things he said, the way he moved, the look in his smoldering eyes. I knew the way my body reacted to even his smallest actions was ridiculous, but I couldn’t help feeling thrilled by it. I secretly loved how he could turn me on so completely through a few kisses and feather-light touches. Not that I would ever tell him that." -Warmth, Chapter 2

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Dude, no way, Jose

Sirens, mermaids, and other underwater* mythical creatures are my favorite. And so is Twilight. When I found this I almost peed my pants with excitement. I'm a loser.

The Siren's Song:

Isabella Swan arrives in Forks with a secret so powerful that it threatens all those around her mortal and immortal alike.

*I just found out that these sirens aren't 'sea sirens' like mermaids with wings, but I'm still excited!

Toned Down.

I said I would tone it down with one-shots, and that's ironic. Because posting crack-fics while 'toning it down' is ironic. Crack and toning things down at the same time doesn't go together...
Some fluffy stuff is mixed in too, just so you know.

Edward and the Tampon
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches
Get Me Some Pop Tarts

Monday, January 11, 2010

Pink Fluffy Pencil Case:

No one talks to Edward Cullen. He's the weird emo kid with the sexy hair and black skinny jeans. He denies he wears guyliner, but he totally does. Bella is the new girl, and doesn't get why he hates her. Maybe it's the pencil case...

This might be the last 'To Read' this week. But, I have tons more I do want to read, so I'll continue this later after we tone it down a bit with one shots.

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Memento Mori:
"I guess at some point everyone has to do something long term that they hate or regret every moment of. I happened to be in that situation." How far would you go to insure a safe, realiable future, even if there was pain and cheating involved?

RosetteCullen is personally one of my favorite one-shot writers, so I am happy to know that she wrote a long fic.

Friday, January 8, 2010

St. Andrew's Place:
Bella moves in with Rosalie and her girlfriends, Alice and Leah. The four of them have sex. B/R/A/L, but eventually B/L

I usually don't read pairings like this, but it sounds interesting.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Master of the Universe:
Bella Swan is drafted in to interview the reclusive enigmatic Edward Cullen, multi-millionaire CEO of his company. It's an encounter that will change her life irrevocably, leading her to the darkest realms of desire.

Apparently this is a popular story, but I have never heard of it! The plot for MotU looks awesome, this must be why it's so huge. And wow...28,531 reviews and counting.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

The Girl Under The Bed:
Bella Swan is homeless in one of the worst winters Seattle has seen. When hope is gone, and things take a turn for the worst a mysterious stranger steps in to help, turning her life upside down. Changing her life forever.

A New Year...A New Theme

My main New Year's resolution is to read more. Whether the material is a book or FanFiction. When I am done with the fics and books I'm currently on, I plan to read other stories in the future. That's what this theme is about...the future.

Cooking With Fire
Bella Swan is the world famous Head Chef of New Moon restaurant in NYC. Edward Cullen is a seven-year veteran fireman for the FDNY. What happens when our two favorite lovebirds meet? Anything is possible! Story contains romance, humor, lust, sexual tension, sex, some Cullen family time and drama. Also includes and ever-lovable Emmett and a Bad Ass Bella And Rose.

Visits-start from 39
